MY APPROACH TO THERAPY
I strive to create a safe, compassionate, respectful and non-judgmental space; one where individuals feel safe to freely express their inner reality. I bring humour and curiousity to the therapy relationship, integrating a relational, client-centered, trauma-informed and emotionally-focused approach.
Collaboratively, I hope to help you make sense of your story (however messy that is or has been), and to re-author it. I hope to help you draw on your internal resources and to shine a light on the potential that you know you have. I hope to help you resolve overwhelming feelings, to develop skills and strategies, and to be in a secure and supportive relationship with you while you move towards a life of empowerment and authenticity.
In addition to a Master's degree in Counselling Psychology, I'm also trained as an Art Therapist, and have worked with a myriad of individuals with unique and complex presentations. My education coupled with my innate sensitivity, creativity and curiousity, means that I can draw on many tools to tailor your therapy process to your individuality.
Other areas of focus include:
-
childhood trauma and complex post-traumatic stress disorder (c-PTSD)
-
relational trauma
-
life transitions
-
self-esteem
-
identity issues
-
attachment
As a Registered Psychotherapist my services are covered by most insurance companies.
